De La Soul Debut New Song "Pain [ft. Snoop Dogg]" With Interactive Lyric Video

De La Soul have shared the first single from their crowdfunded ninth LP, And the Anonymous Nobody. The funky, soulful "Pain" features Snoop Dogg, and comes with an interactive lyric game, that's playable over at De La Soul's website. The game merges hand-eye-coordination skills with the heady funk at the crux of De La Soul's "Pain," effortlessly transforming the single's lyrics into obstacles you try to avoid getting sidelined by. You play as a mic-wielding anonymous nobody dodging funky lyrics with your keyboard's arrow keys.
And the Anonymous Nobody follows De La Soul's recent EP For Your Pain And Suffering that was surprise-released in April. Prior to that, the group put out their eighth full length in 2012, Plug 1 & Plug 2 Present...First Serve. The hip hop trio raised over $600,000 in crowdfunded revenue to pay for the recording of And the Anonymous Nobody (well surpassing their initial mark of $110,000), Rolling Stone reports. Besides Snoop Dogg, the album features David Byrne, Damon Albarn, Little Dragon, 2 Chainz, Usher, and more. And the Anonymous Nobody will be officially released on August 26 through Rough Trade Records.
Ahead of the album's release, De La Soul will gear up for a brief tour that'll see them performing at several festivals stateside and overseas. The summer trek will take them to New York's Governors Ball on June 4; England's Electric Beach Festival on July 9; and Riverhead, NY's FOLD Festival on August 12--to name a few. See the full tour schedule below.
