The Deer Lodge (website has announced a new George Jones tribute album, which will be released in December 2013. The Southeast Portland underground record label is producing the album, which will consist of entirely new recordings and is the first project of its kind following the legendary country singer's death earlier this year.

Jones died in April and was an icon, known for the song "He Stopped Loving Her Today."

Several favorite local artists in addition to those from Nashville, Los Angeles and New York representing multiple genres will be contributing tracks to the album, which will serve as a unique look at the work of one of music's greatest voices.

"George left behind so many great songs over his fifty-year career, it's going to be really magical to hear today's artists share their own personal interpretation of his familiar classics as well as dusting off some of his lesser-known gems," shared producer Bert Sperling. "The sad part is that George won't be able to hear them, but I think he'll be smiling somewhere."

Will you look forward to this tribute to The Possum?
