Desaparecidos Reunite!
Fri, 04 May 2012 15:27:01
Indie rockers, rejoice! Desaparecidos, the Nebraska-based five-piece fronted by Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, have reunited. The band, who haven't toured together since 2002, recently played a surprise show in their hometown of Omaha where they unveiled two brand new songs: "Left is Right" and "Backsell." A decade has passed, but that's okay. We're stoked.
In addition to Desaparecidos previously announced performance at Omaha's MAHA Music Festival, the band have announced shows in Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco.
Desaparecidos return as the original line up of Conor Oberst (vocals, guitar) Landon Hedges (bass guitar, vocals), Matt Baum (drums), Denver Dalley - (guitar) and Ian McElroy (keyboards). The band formed in 2001, released one album (2002's critically lauded Read Music/Speak Spanish), and ceased playing together shortly thereafter.
Prior to the long awaited and much rumored summer dates, Oberst will play several solo shows throughout the northeast.
Bright Eyes reissued 2000's Fevers and Mirrors and 2002's There Is No Beginning to the Story EP on May 1 on re-pressed vinyl. Available from Saddle Creek here.
