    For the past 16 weeks, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" [ft. Justin Bieber] has sat atop the Billboard Hot 100. That four-month run ties the song with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" for the most weeks at number one in the chart's 59-year history.

    No single song has matched the staying power of "One Sweet Day" since the pop/R&B monster dominated the charts back in 1995-1996. Mariah and co. held the longevity record for the 21 years since, though there were some near misses — seven other tracks have spent 14 weeks on top of the chart each.

    It doesn't seem like "Despacito" is going to be dislodged from the top slot any time soon, so stand by for next week when it will likely be crowned the undisputed record holder for song with the most weeks at #1 over the entire lifetime of the singles chart, dating all the way back to it's Aug. 4, 1958 inception.
