Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams has shot down the rumor that there will be a Destiny's Child reunion at the Super Bowl this weekend, where Beyoncé is the halftime entertainer. There were rampant rumors that Williams and Kelly Rowland, Bey's former Destiny bandmates, would join her for a medley, including their new song "Nuclear" from the Love Songs collection.
Well, Miss Wms. says it ain't so.
"I'm going to be in the musical Fela!," Williams said. "I hate to disappoint the people and tell them that it's not true."
But there is still hope, as Williams is headlining a world tour of the show, which kicks off today (January 29) in Washington, D.C., where it will run for several days. There are two performances at Sidney Harman Hall, at 3PM and 8PM. on Super Bowl Sunday, but Williams will not appear that day. Maybe she will be in New Orleans for the big game?
"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry," Williams said of the reunion rumors. "But we did record a song with each other before the holidays." That song is the aforementioned "Nuclear."
Hmmm. The fact that she isn't supposed to be appearing on Sunday, February 3 gives us hope.
Is Michelle Williams blowing smoke and trying to throw us off the scent and the trail of a Destiny's Child reunion performance so that it can be a surprise? You never, ever know! Bey would never leave her girls out in the cold for such a huge, massive perf! That's what we think.
