It's been over four years since Dirty Projectors released a new album, so it's understandable that they would be getting a little antsy, and it seems as if all that pressure finally built to a boil. In response, David Longstreth has released the new self-titled album three days early.
The album was originally scheduled to come out this Friday, February 24th, but instead it's available to the public right this instant. Fans can hear pick up the record in stores or stream it below.
Longstreth took to social media to alert fans, tweeting, "Been 4 years, 7 months & 11 days — long enough! 3 days early, preorders are in the mail & the album in stores. Dirty Projectors is out today."
Dirty Projectors marks the return of the project to its solo roots for David Longstreth and addresses his breakup with former bandmate Amber Coffman. Coffman is set to release her debut solo album, City of No Reply, later this year via Columbia Records.
Despite the just released record, Dirty Projectors has not announced a new tour. But, hopefully, all the excitement around the album will inspire Longstreth to hit the road soon, for what would be one heck of a show.
