DMX, born Earl Simmons, has apologized for the behavior that caused him to be arrested last week. According to The BoomBox, the rapper was temporarily released from a substance abuse program in order to perform at a concert in Scottsdale, Arizona and that lead to his downfall, since he consumed alcohol during the event, which violated his probation.

Seriously, I cannot make this shit up.

"I shouldn't have done it," DMX said. "I wasn't done with the program. They let me out to do the show. I should have protected myself better." He broke the rules and now he has to pay. It's also worth nothing that most folks aren't able to exit treatment to go perform at a concert, so DMX is the architect of his own problem and his fate here. He also said, "It's rare that I get fair treatment...It's love or hate. I'm gonna get through this. Thank you for the support and love, I won't let you down."

What do you think of DMX's excuse?
