Dr. Dre is producing and starring in a new scripted television series for Apple, currently entitled Vital Signs. This will be Apple's first step into the world of scripted television and Dre's first main role since 2001's The Wash. The show is presently set for six episodes and has already begun shooting. Apple has not stated how it will roll out the show.

"Those who have seen descriptions of the Dr. Dre show say it is billed as semi-autobiographical, with each episode focusing on a different emotion and how Dre's character deals with it. Sources say that Sam Rockwell and Mo McCrae (Murder in the First) are among the additional cast," says the Hollywood Reporter, adding that the show features "at least one orgy scene."

The Hollywood Reporter goes on to provide more details: "Veteran music video director Paul Hunter is helming Vital Signs, which is also being produced under his Eye Candy banner alongside producers Aaron Ginsburg and William Green. Empire co-exec producer-writer Robert Munic was hand-picked by Dre to write all six episodes and exec produce. The first season will roll out all at once, regardless of venue, a la Netflix. Apple is said to be very bullish on the project."

Last month it was reported that Dr. Dre may be teaming up with Ice Cube, and possibly Eminem, at this year's Coachella for a N.W.A. reunion. The rumor however has not been confirmed.
