Dr. Dre is suing Yamaha. He claims that the electronics company has copied his hugely successful headphone line, Beats by Dre.
Dre's legal team claims that Yamaha PRO headphones infringes the patent of his Beats by Dre range.
Dre's suit states: "The distinctive aspects of the Beats' Headphones that comprise Beats' Trade Dress Rights."
It also read: "Consumers appreciated the design, as well as the sound quality, of Beats and began wearing the Beats headphones around their necks as a fashion accessory even when not listening to music. In fact, the design of the Beats headphones has been a significant driver of the commercial success of the products."
The rapper/producer/headphones maker is seeking $75,000 in damages. Well, that's not much at all.
Do you use, own or wear Beats by Dre 'phones?
