Drake is an artist who continues to break commercial records. The rapper's album Views is spending another week at the top of the Billboard 200, totalling 13 weeks in the top slot. Further to his chart-topping success Views has hit another milestone - it is the first album to surpass 1 billion streams on Apple Music.
Drake has been the smiling face of Apple Music since it's launch in 2015, so it's perhaps fitting that his is the album that has hit this momentous landmark. He celebrated the occasion with an Instagram post showing him alongside Apple Music CEO Tim Cook - arms linked and celebrating the day.
Views was initially released as a five-day exclusive on Apple Music on April 29th. Apple has been employing similar premiere exclusives to make distinguish itself against bigger rivals like Spotify, which it lags behind in paid subscriber count (17 million to Spotify's 40 million). In celebration of the Views streams, Drake has released a 23-minute short film accompanying the album on Apple Music. The name of the movie is Please Forgive Me, and it follows Drake and his girlfriend Fanny Neguesha in an Indecent Proposal-style caper. Tunes used from Views include "One Dance," "9," and "Controlla." The film will be available only on Apple Music "in perpetuity."
