Eclipse Gets Its Director

David Slade has been hired by Summit Entertainment to direct The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which will be third film in the teen vampire franchise which kicked off last fall with Twilight. Several directors were up for the blazing hot, highly-coveted job and rumors ran rampant about who would get the gig, but nothing materialized until Summit confirmed the news of Slade's hiring yesterday. Eclipse is scheduled to hit the multiplex on June 30, 2010. Slade's hiring cements the fact that three different directors have gone behind the camera for each of the franchise's three films.

Slade is perhaps best known for directing 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy. New Moon, the middle film in the series, is currently shooting in Vancouver. It's set for release on November 20.
