Ed Sheeran is aces. The British Ginger Kid dropped $1.6 million to convert a former police station in his hometown of Suffolk, England into a youth center.
His goal is for the location to be a haven for youngsters to hone their skills, much like the youth club at which he was allowed to foster his own talents as a youngster.
"I'm really excited about the project," E. Sheeran said. "I had a youth club from when I was 12 when I grew up and they did a battle of the bands every week and that's where I and other bands started playing. Then the land the club was on was sold... and I just went off to London and did shows instead. Now there's no youth club and nothing to do so it's a bad situation. The plan when I get older is to end up running that – so I have pretty much planned my retirement."
We love an artist with concern for others, as well as with forethought and foresight! We love that E. Sheeran knows what he wants to do upon retiring. What a gem.
What are some other ways can we foster the arts?
