EverGreen Copyrights, the company that controls the rights to Nick Drake’s back catalogue, has announced plans for a tribute to the folk icon. Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records label will release the as-yet-untitled album, which features appearances by Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl, Norah Jones and Mr. Johnson himself.
“Fans are willing to pay for that kind of product,” David Schulhof, EverGreen’s owner, said. “I don’t think labels are doing that and I certainly don't think publishers are doing that.”
Another thing fans might be willing to pay for is Heath Ledger’s version of “Black Eyed Dog,” which was filmed at the tail end of 2007 for a multimedia Drake installation that never quite materialized.
