Elton John Suing Banker Who Failed to Honor Charity Auction Bid

Elton John is suing a banker who bid $1.1 million at a charity auction and then failed to pay up.
At the singer's annual White Tie and Tiara Ball last year, Spencer Lodge won the chance to spend a day with John. However, Lodge did not honor the contract he signed pledging to donate the sum of money to the Elton John Aids Foundation. Shady!
After several attempts to contact Lodge, the singer has reportedly asked his legal team to enact a suit.
A source tells Britain's Daily Mirror that Elton "is not personally hounding the man and demanding the cash back but he is fully supportive of the legal proceedings to benefit the charity." We can't blame Sir Elton for going after the cash, since it's for a good cause.
The source continued, "The feeling is Mr Lodge was at the ball, enjoying the plush surroundings a little too enthusiastically and didn't really know quite how much he was bidding....In the cold light of day, it appears he got cold feet and couldn't go through with the bid. Initially there was a misunderstanding as Mr. Lodge was changing lawyers but still nothing has been resolved so that's why it has gone this far."
It's certainly not cool to make a pledge and then to not follow through, especially for a cause such as this.
Do you think Elton John is right in suing over this issue?
