Many people were shocked when openly gay piano man Elton John performed at conservative pundit/blabbermouth Rush Limbaugh's wedding recently. It seemed like an odd, er, coupling, to say the least. John's partner, David Furnish, told People that they were "a little surprised" by the invite and "when it turned out to be a genuinely sincere invitation … Elton said, 'Life is about building bridges, not walls.' " What an open-minded philosophy, Elton! You are commended for being so damn cool. It's also worth noting that according to PopEater, Mr. John raked in a cool million dollars for the gig, so I'd put aside my political beliefs or squabbles with even the biggest Republican hardliner if I was getting paid boats of cash to work with him! And as if you want to build a bridge, you need some startup capital to do so.
Furnish said that Limbaugh and his wife Kathryn Rogers were both sweet and appreciative.
Who would you want to perform at your nuptials?
