The King Elvis Presley and bearded classic rockers ZZ Top are the first acts inducted into the new Memphis Music Hall of Fame in Tennessee, which debuts next month.
Presley will be inducted on November 29 at the Cannon Center for Performing Arts.
A total of 25 honorees will be celebrated for their connection to the area, including singer Al Green; blues guitarist B.B. King; Oscar-winning rap group Three 6 Mafia; and country singer Jerry Lee Lewis.
What a rich musical history this city has.
Mayor AC Wharton says, "Everywhere I go, people know Memphis, Tennessee. Every country around the world recognizes Memphis as the epicenter of music. The establishment of the Memphis Music Hall of Fame will lend focus to this fact, and pay tribute to the musical pioneers and icons whose contributions to our culture and our heritage, both locally and globally, are unequalled."
Congrats to the inductees and honorees.
Have you ever been to Memphis? If so, share your story with us.
