Emily Blunt Starring in The Girl and Gulliver's Travels

English actress and current Hollywood hot property Emily Blunt, who is contention for a role in Iron Man 2, will star in the forthcoming indie flick The Girl, which will be directed by New York-based filmmaker David Riker. Blunt will play a girl from Texas who is thrust into an unexpected series of life-altering events when she meets a young Mexican girl. Riker wrote the film's script as well. Journeyman Pictures, a New York-based company, will team up with UK-based Axiom Films to produce and distribute the film, which has a $10 million budget.

In other Blunt news, the actress is reportedly close to sealing the deal to star as an island princess in Gulliver's Travels opposite Jack Black, who will play Gulliver. Jason Segel of TV's How I Met Your Mother is in negotiations to take a role as Horatio, who would be Blunt's character's love interest and a Liliputian who befriends the travel writer Gulliver in the Bermuda Triangle. Principal photography on the film begins in March.
