“Crack a Bottle,” the new Eminem single featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, has broken the Nielsen SoundScan record for first-week digital sales. The lead-off single from Eminem’s highly-anticipated Relapse LP raked in 418,000 downloads, beating the prior first-week record of 335,000 by T.I. and Rihanna. Aside from the digital download chart, “Crack a Bottle” topped Billboard’s Hot 100, becoming Em and Dre’s second No. 1 single. (Dre’s last one was Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” and Slim Shady’s last entry was 2002’s “Lose Yourself.”)
Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent last teamed up on “Encore,” a song that peaked at No. 25 on the Hot 100 chart in January 2005. All three artists have new albums expected this year, even Dre with his long-delayed Detox disc.
