Eric Clapton May Retire

Guitar god Eric Clapton still loves making music, but he does not love touring or the aches and pains that plague his body. As he nears 70, Clapton is contemplating retiring from active road duty.
He told Uncut, "There are tons of things I'd like to do, but I'm looking at retirement, too. What I'll allow myself to do, within reason, is carry on recording in the studio. I don't want to go off the boil to the point where I'm embarrassing myself. The road has become unbearable. It's become unapproachable, because it takes so long to get anywhere. It's hostile – everywhere: getting in and out of airports, traveling on planes and in cars."
Due to his physical and bodily aches, Clapton may put down his axe for good, as well. He said, "It might be that I can't, if it hurts too much."
That would be a dark day in music, sadly. We hope Clapton can manage his pain. We'd totally understand and accept his decision to stop touring, but to stop playing? That would hurt too much.
Have you ever seen E. Clapton live? If so, how was he?
