Bassist/composer/vocalist Esperanza Spalding was a featured performer on the 84th Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb.26, 2012. She sang a moving rendition of "What a Wonderful World" as a tribute to those who have passed away, including Whitney Houston, Steve Jobs and Elizabeth Taylor. The perf was televised live on ABC.
Additionally, Esperanza also played bass for the majority of the ceremony with the orchestra, except during her solo appearance in the balcony to perform "Minor Swing" and to sing "What a Wonderful World."

On March 20, 2012, Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group, will issue Spalding's latest release, Radio Music Society, which is said to be her most diverse, ambitious and masterful recital yet.
11 of the 12 songs are accompanied by conceptual short films, which further express Esperanza's inspiration and story behind each track. Shot in various locations including New York City, Barcelona, Spain and Portland, Oregon, all films will be available to purchasers of Radio Music Society as a digital download or on a DVD in the deluxe version.
