Heavy metal and hard rock luminaries discuss the quintet...
Lamb of God carry the torch for real heavy metal in the 21st century. The Richmond, VA group boasts a sound that's insanely infectious vocally and taut and tight with polyrhythmic guitars and carpet bomb percussion. This year's, VII: Sturm und Drang [Epic Records], which is about to debut in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top 200, perfects that attack, sharpening the spikes on all fronts. Right now, the band is burning up cities alongside Slipknot, Bullet for My Valentine, and Motionless in White on the Summer's Last Stand tour and, in between, vocalist Randy Blythe is supporting his first book, Dark Days: A Memoir. It's undeniably a banner year for them. So, in this exclusive piece, we spoke to metal's elite about Lamb of God.
What can you say about Lamb of God?
Kirk Hammett of Metallica
Kirk Hammett: I love Lamb of God! They really became one of my favorite among this century's bands. The guitar playing on Wrath is unbelievable. They were awesome tour mates too, and I'll always support them.
Corey Taylor of Slipknot & Stone Sour
Corey Taylor: They're a great metal band. We've had the pleasure of touring many times together, and they did the first KNOTFEST. I remember that was such an emotional moment as Randy had just come back. They came out and f***ing killed it. They were perfect for Summer's Last Stand, so we could really give audiences an entire package. That's something you think about. I can't wait to go out with them again.
Slash: They're so f***ing good, man. I first got into them a while. I've always enjoyed watching them at festivals or whenever we'd play together—just incredible musicianship and showmanship.
