ARTISTdirect and multi-talented artist Hayley Kiyoko have teamed up to premiere her lyric video for "A Belle to Remember" from the EP of the same name, which landed this March.
Fans may recognize Kiyoko from her role in the Disney Channel movie Lemonade Mouth and from Selena Gomez's The Wizards of Waverly Place. A talented songwriter and independent spirit, Hayley co-wrote and produced her EP!
This is not your average lyric video, either. It's messy, but not without reason, and that's what makes it super engaging.
"We shot this video on a whim one Sunday afternoon," Kiyoko told ARTISTdirect. "I was trying to think of a unique way to shoot a lyric video and my friend mentioned she had a bunch of holi powder at her house. So we set up a chair, and started throwing holi powder all over me! It was a blast. Except for the fact that my neck was stained purple for three days after the shoot. And my contacts were stained pink. I looked crazy town. Maybe I am?"
Kiyoko continued, "I know the video seems quite random but there is a slight meaning behind it all. The holi powder symbolizes the story of 'A Belle to Remember.' I start the video covered with all of this powder symbolizing the relationship, and by the end of the video, the holi powder is gone. The relationship is over and I feel headstrong and ready to start a new chapter in my life. A new beginning as a 'Belle to Remember.'"
It's all about the holi powder, which is said to be scented.
How much did you love this crazy town lyric video?
