ARTISTdirect has a Tuesday surprise for our beloved ARTISTdirectioners and it's sure to bring you some "Happiness."
We're thrilled to premiere Rachael Sage's lyric video for "Happiness (Maddie's Song)." The NYC-based singer/songwriter will release her new album Blue Roses on November 4. You can pre-order Blue Roses now over at PledgeMusic.com.
The "Happiness (Maddie's Song)" video is a collabo between Sage and Jordanian visual artist Majd Alomari. You won't be able to look away from it! It is visually mesmerizing.
Sage is of the same sonic ilk as Tori Amos, Norah Jones, Sarah McLachlan and Ingrid Michaelson. If you like any of those lovely-voiced ladies, then you will also love R. Sage.
Not only is the song propelled by Sage's honeyed voice, but the visuals have an anime x graphic novel look and feel, as well.
The collabo launched when Majd contacted Sage via Facebook to share her art. They expressed a mutual admiration for each other's work, and decided to create something unique together. The two collaborated over Facebook, with Majd creating artwork inspired by "Happiness" and Rachael constructing the layout and design, and a lyric video was born! This is the first lyric video that either one has ever worked on, and the two, who became fast friends across distance and time zones, expect to work together again in the future.
"Majd is a wildly talented, wonderful young artist," raved Sage. "I first saw her images on Facebook, then later on her Instagram page, and was simply blown away. I had actually intended to do drawings myself for this video, but when she approached me with some of her drawings of me, based on some of my press photos, I was so impressed and immediately knew we needed to collaborate somehow, merging her artwork and my music."
So go ahead and watch and listen. Get lost in the song and the visuals.
Did you love Rachael Sage's lyric video and song?
