ARTISTdirect has teamed up with Armon Jay to premiere his song "The Harvest" from Everything's Different, Nothing's Changed, out January 21 of next year. So end your 2013 with this advance listen! New music first -- always at ARTISTdirect.
After a stint with a major label Christian band signed to Sony Music's Provident Label Group, Nashville-based, neo-folk singer/songwriter Armon Jay decided he needed to go his own way and "shed the skin" of any preconceived genre label, prompted by a personal crisis where he questioned his own inability to live up to his ideals.
Armon Jay raised $14,000 via Kickstarter, too! Impressive!
His debut solo album, Everything's Different, Nothing's Changed, is the culmination of a two-year personal journey. The album is a manifestation of restored hope. Armon Jay is a candidly honest storyteller and his style is reminiscent of his influences Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams and Paul Simon, all the while solidifying a style that is distinctly his own.
"'The Harvest' served as a second wind I got while going through the middle in my journey to see the end of this record," Jay told us. "I was three weeks away from getting married, and also juggling all the work that went into my Kickstarter campaign. I remember one morning where I started to question...how am I gonna pull all of this off? And with an unexpected surge of inspiration, I wrote 'The Harvest' that morning. It's about moving forward despite any opposition. Because there's always a harvest coming around the corner. For me, that applied not only to the record, but in every facet of my life. The irony of it all was...when I stood there holding my wife's hand on our wedding day, it was pouring down rain. It's all about the bigger picture."
What a beautiful story! With all that in mind, enjoy the song.
