ARTISTdirect and Karla Moheno have teamed up to premiere her song "Blacked Out and Blue" from Gone to Town.
"I wrote 'Blacked Out and Blue' while stuck in my apartment during Hurricane Sandy," Moheno told us. "The song's about making the best out of a bad situation. In that case, it was riding out a storm with some booze and music making."
That's quite a way to ride out a storm!
A native of San Diego, California, Karla Moheno is now a New York City-based rock singer and songwriter. Moheno grew up listening to music from the 1950s and 1960s, and later fell in love with early swing music.
Following Moheno's move to New York City six years ago, the artist performed with several bands including Morricone Youth and a swing trio she formed called The Tickled Pinks. Moheno has played prestigious venues around New York including Rockwood Music Hall, Joe's Pub, Poisson Rouge, SRB Brooklyn, the Cutting Room, and the Knitting Factory.
With all that in mind, enjoy the song!
