ARTISTdirect and The Mission UK have teamed up to premiere the band's balls out new song "Drag," from The Brightest Light, due out September 17 on The End Records. Forego that wake up cup of coffee or tea or whatever it is you need to "Drag" your ass out of bed in the morning. Crank this track and it will "Drag" you out of your slumber. This is grimy rock 'n' roll at its finest and rawest, and it snarls and shows its teeth from start to finish.

The Mission UK are comprised of Wayne Hussey, Craig Adams and Simon Hinkler, all original members all, along with drummer Mike Kelly. They came to realize that they actually made quite a decent big ol' noise together and wanted to capture their newly rejuvenated sound on record. In support of the new album, the band will embark on a U.S. headlining tour this September, hitting all major market cities along the way.

"'Drag' was a bit of a throw-away actually, just a basic three-chord, 12-bar blues rocker that was never really intended for the album, written just after I'd seen a Robert Plant show in Sao Paulo earlier this year. I don't think we've ever done something quite as basic as this before but it was fun to play and record. And the end result ended up being better than any of us expected so it warrants its place on the album by virtue of that fact. Key line for me is: 'So if I leave it all up to you, nostalgia is all we'd have to look forward to...'," the band told us.

Once you listen to "Drag," you'll be glad it wasn't tossed away or forgotten, which could have been its fate.

As a bonus, enjoy this interview with drummer Mike Kelly:

    Did you dig "Drag?"
