Thu, 06 Sep 2012 09:15:47
Blaqk Audio is an electronic super duo consisting of the immensely talented Davey Havok and Jade Puget, frontman and guitarist of the acclaimed, multi-platinum, much beloved rock group AFI. The boys show off their love of synthy dance music and new wave with this project, a style that doesn't quite fully fit AFI's post-punk. So they are able to effectively indulge their other musical interests and influences in this thrilling side project.
ARTISTdirect.com has proudly partnered with the band and Century Media Records to premiere this exclusive video, where the twosome offers intimate insight into four incredible songs from their new album Bright Black Heaven. They go deep when discussing "Everybody's Friends"; "Let's Be Honest"; "With Your Arms Around You"; and "Bliss."
Davey says that "Everybody's Friends" is his favorite song. We must admit -- we are loving his short, stylish hair. He looks faboo, doesn't he? Both he and Jade look like gentlemen in this vid! As if we'd expect any less from this fashionable and stylish music mavens.
"Let's Be Honest" is a mid-tempo pop song, which Havok reveals is about the "cat and mouse game that people play." The song fuses both a "house-y" vibe with a Depeche Mode element; it's '80s influenced, yet modern.
"With Your Arms Around You" takes Davey to back to the days when he would go out to dance at clubs in his youth!
"Bliss," despite its title, is the darkest song on the record, with Havok and Puget acknowledging that it has a "grimy" feel. You think you hear rock drums and guitars, but it's all electronic.

Bright Black Heavenlands on September 11. It follows 2007's debut CexCells.
