North, South, East, West? Whatever direction you prefer, you've ended up here, with us and with GoNorthToGoSouth. ARTISTdirect has teamed up with GoNorthToGoSouth to premiere their video for "Turn It Up" from Lost & Found, their EP, which is out now.
You know, the band's name reminds us of the drop off scenes in Mr. Mom. North to pick up, south to drop off, moron!
Now that we are done with the '80s movie trivia...
GoNorthToGoSouth is a collaboration of two songwriters, busbee and Ben West, who have collectively worked with some of the biggest names in music. L.A.-based busbee has penned tracks for Kelly Clarkson ("Dark Side"), Timbaland ("If We Ever Meet Again" featuring Katy Perry), Christina Aguilera ("Empty Words") and Lady Antebellum ("Our Kind of Love"), among others, while Emmy Award-winning and Detroit-based Ben West has collaborated on tracks for indie-pop duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and TV shows such as FOX's Glee.
Impressive, right? That's why you need to watch the "Turn It Up" video!
busbee and Ben recently released Lost & Found, their debut digital EP as GoNorthToGoSouth via BMG. The EP features the official original version of the track "Try," which was famously recorded and released by P!nk last year, but originally written by busbee and Ben.
Yet another reason to find Lost & Found.
"It's mind-boggling to us that as we write a song, we're converting an idea in our heads to something fixed in a digital waveform which then gets transmitted around the world - with the emotion fully intact - and eventually converted back to analog sound waves to hit a listener's ear. We knew we wanted to make an animated video for "Turn It Up" as we are equally fascinated by the realitythat an animator can make up an entire world to help the listener connect with the intent of the song. Our director / animator for the video was Joshua Jouppi - a friend of ours in the thriving creative scene in Detroit. It was an honor to work with him."
But for now... watch the video!
Did you get to turn it up?
