Before you head out to enjoy a wintry weekend, how about setting sail in a "Glass Bottom Boat" with Willodean? ARTISTdirect has teamed up with the band to premiere the cool animated video for the song.
The band said, "Essentially, this is a video for hopeless romantics, when they're feeling their most hopeless and need a light at the end of the tunnel."
We've all been there! So if you are there, like, now, then enjoy this song and the visual.
"The song lyrics are very visual in nature, and also very specific," the band's Randy Wooten told us. "As I was writing it, I almost immediately started attaching cartoon-like visuals in my mind. Partly because I think it fits the dream-like mood of the music and partly because it counteracts the melancholic nature of the lyrics. You can't be TOO sad if you’re watching a cartoon, right?"
Wooten furthered, "The characters and cityscape were designed by a fantastic animator out of Austin named Lauren Briere. I had never done anything like this before. So basically, I gave her a detailed description over the phone of my concept for the look, the characters, and the plot, if you can call it that. The next time I saw her, she had a notebook full of sketches, and it was as if she pulled them right out of my head. Amazing. At the same time, Lauren has a personality to her artwork that is all her own and gave life to the characters in a way I could never have imagined. Lauren and a very talented multimedia designer named Sarah Gay-O'Neill put the whole thing together.
Wooten finished, "This is an unusual song. On an album filled with lyrics about loneliness and detachment, this one stood out to us and became a band favorite in a way. I think everyone at one time or another puts up some kind of barrier between themselves and real life. I think what Lauren and Sarah have done with this video is amazing, seeing that barrier displayed in such a romantic light."
