Eyes Set To Kill's frontwoman Alexia Rodriguez has set October 12 as the release date for her new solo album Lexia: Underground Sounds. The album is set to include acoustic versions of Eyes Set To Kill tracks, a cover of Radiohead's "Climbing Up the Walls," which is always daring, and all new material that takes Lexia in a whole new direction that is nothing like her heavy, full-time band. Lexia is currently streaming an acoustic version of the song "Reach" online at http://www.subnoizestore.com/Lexia-Underground-Sounds-p/bre194.htm. Check it out now. I give the girl props for changing things up a bit and being fearless enough to try something new.
"When I'm on the road I have nothing but time on my hands, so for the most part I'm always trying to find something constructive to kill the time," Lexia commented in an official statement on the matter. "The songs I write on the road are mellow and chilled, which don't necessarily work as Eyes Set To Kill songs. I try to write songs in different styles and genres and just demo them for myself. I never thought about putting out a solo album, but my manager heard them and freaked out saying, ‘These are amazing, you have to release them!' At first I was nervous and wondering what my band would think, but they were super supportive of the idea."
Rodriguez also describes the music as dark, atmospheric indie pop and extremely melodic which will play to her strengths as a songwriter without any pre-conceived notions or undue expectations. Maybe she's the hard rock world's answer to Tori Amos?
Did you check out "Reach?" What did you think? Also, should artists be banned from covering Radiohead?
