Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has pledged to donate $100 million to the distressed school system in Newark, New Jersey, reports The New York Times. It's part of the Waiting for SUPERMAN campaign to improve education in this country. Zuckerberg, who will be profiled in The Social Network, which hits theaters next week, will appear on The Oprah Winfrey show with New Jersey governor Chris Christie and Newark mayor Cory A. Booker today to announce the commitment.

I am from New Jersey and I regularly fly out of Newark and can attest to the fact that Newark is a poverty stricken area that can certainly use this generous contribution from Zuckerberg.

Will you be going to see The Social Network?
