There are a few records on the horizon in 2013 that we're sure are going to completely change the game.
New music is always exciting prospect, and we bring you the records we think will totally blow you away in 2013.
Next up is…
Avenged Sevenfold — TBA
Avenged Sevenfold indisputably own modern hard rock and heavy metal right now.
Very few bands in this day and age can debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and sell out arenas all over the world. They're in the position to really elevate the genre once more with their forthcoming sixth full-length studio album.
Nightmare emphasized hard-hitting grooves and searing solos. Here, the band's desire is to return to the roots of classic metal—something they've always had a great handle on. M. Shadows has mentioned going back and studying everything from Pantera to Led Zeppelin. However, this will undeniably be Avenged Sevenfold and Avenged Sevenfold alone. Their most recent track "Carry On" charged forward with old school-style lyrics and mind-numbing fretwork, standing out as one of their heaviest and best yet. It's still simply a prelude of what's on the horizon though.
Heavy metal needs to come back as the number one genre and, if anybody can once again carry it to that status, it's Avenged Sevenfold.
