There are a few records on the horizon in 2013 that we're sure are going to completely change the game.

New music is always exciting prospect, and we bring you the records we think will totally blow you away in 2013.

    Next up is…

    Mastodon — TBA

Mastodon raise the bar for absolutely everyone in the genre when they go into the studio.

2011's The Hunter illuminated another side of the Atlanta rock behemoth. Their songwriting chops shined through just as blindingly as their unmatched technical prowess. Cuts like "Dry Bone Valley" and "Thickening" remain some of the group's best to date, and that says a lot. However, just as every Mastodon album has built upon the band's legacy thus far, this next chapter will expand the canvas and certainly do the same. Somewhere between Metallica and Led Zeppelin, this band reigns supreme and always will.

There's no set date yet, but whatever the Mastodon boys due is rightfully set to top every year-end list. It'll have those tense emotional moments injected inside of those juggernaut riffs and rhythms seesawing between elegantly destructive and brutally entrancing.

We're ready to take another trip with them.
