L.A. is the most rock n' roll city in the world. But why is that? What makes L.A. rock more than say, New York, Boston or, well, Cleveland?

Steel Panther vocalist Michael Starr has the answer. "The reason L.A. rocks is because Steel Panther has successfully brought heavy metal back to Hollywood where it started in 1981. That's why it rocks again."

Drummer Stix Zadinia makes the answer a little easier, for the real metal heads of course. "L.A. is the most rock n' roll city in the world because we're from L.A."

Point taken. Steel Panther keep it simple, but there's no debating how much they rock.

The world needs Steel Panther. This fall, they're coming with claws and teeth out to rip hard rock the proverbial new orifice with their Universal Republic debut Feel the Steel. The Panther deliver delicious debauchery on each track with no regard for the past or present—just the future. Every Monday night, they transform the sold out Key Club into their playground, bringing the screaming crowd back to the days when teased hair was cool and the two Coreys were still in movies. Rocking spandex hasn't been this rad since the '80s. They've pulled stars from Jeremy Piven to Kelly Clarkson on stage for guest spots, but they were especially psyched to meet one actor, Mr. Efren Ramirez (Crank: High Voltage, Gamer, Napoleon Dynamite).

Sitting in their dressing room, it felt like Efren was more stoked to be in the presence of The Panther. Efren laughs, "Satchel, Lexxi, Michael and Stix liven up the scene! They do a wonderful job because they're bringing something real. It's about the creative process, and they get it. They know the crowd wants it, and they give them that love. If they keep rockin' it, the girls will be rollin' in it."

On a more semi-serious note, he continues, "Since the mid '70s, L.A. artists have always created incredible music, especially when they were down. People love that. Fans like to hear music that they can relate to. The thing about Steel Panther is their originality. It's so raw and in your face. That's what we want! I don't think there's music from other places that's like that. In 2009 with what we're going through, this is what we want. If girls like it, fuck yeah!"

Girls do like it. In fact, they show up in droves, and not just the ones that look like Kelly Bundy after 30. However, lead guitarist Satchel has some tips for females looking to "hang" with them.

"If you're a hot chick you've probably got a good chance with the lead singer or guitar player," he says. "If you're a little bit overweight, you should probably go for the drummer. If you're a dude, go for the bass player [Laughs]."

If you're in town looking for a rock n' roll night though, a Steel Panther show is the best place to start. That's not to say the rest of Hollywood doesn't rock. "Start at The Rainbow at 1pm, then go to the Body Shop for a good three or four hours," says Michael. "The best hotel to hangout at is the Sunset Marquis. Sit by the pool to meet the best chicks."

So why is Efren such a fan? It's probably the same reason you'll be. Satchel comments, "We resonate with Efren because—and he's not going to say this—he wants to get in our spandex [Laughs]."

A born rocker, Efren chuckles, "I wish I had the spandex and long hair. I know I'm not Twisted Sister, but deep inside I know I am."

"Don't feel bad, dude," assures Stix. "Even past your short hair, we see the long hair on you."

There's only one thing left to do. In his best Pedro voice, Efren offers a final note. "If you vote for Steel Panther, all of your wildest dreams will come true."

Feel the rock, feel the roll, feel the Panther. Most likely they'll enjoy it—way too much.
