Everyone knows when Snoop Dogg's in the house. In fact, the party follows him wherever he goes. Today, it's in the parking lot of Happy Endings, a sports bar on the corner of Sunset Blvd and La Brea Ave on the edge of West Hollywood. People are clamoring just to get a glimpse of the rap legend as he kicks back with his Summer touring partners, Slightly Stoopid. He just announced a massive summer tour with Slightly Stoopid and Stephen Marley, and he's pretty stoked about it to say the least.Through dark shades, he exclaims, "The tour has three different styles of music and three different genres. It's going to be something that's off the hook. It's called Blazed and Confused, and I can't wait to get there!"
Neither can the fans. Snoop is one rapper that always delivers live with each and every show. Blazed and Confused will most certainly uphold his concert winning streak. "You know Snoop Dogg does his thang," says Snoop with a smile. "The stage setup is probably going to change. We're working on it, and we like to change it up all the time. It's going to be barbecue, pool-style [Laughs]."
Even though he's rocking some classy suits on his MTV variety show, Dogg After Dark, Snoop won't be busting out the Armani on stage. "I dress for the occasion—whatever it is. This is more of a summer-orientated, pool party style tour. You'll see me in shorts, khakis and clothes of that nature."
He's not only ready in terms of threads, but he's down to possibly throwdown on stage with Slightly Stoopid. "There's definitely a chance for that. We were talking about it minutes ago. We're bringing both our worlds together. So they'll figure out something on their end, and I'll figure out something on my end. We'll do that together. Look out for that."
The Slightly Stoopid guys are equally thrilled about the tour. Their drummer, Rymo, comments, "We've been putting this tour together for the last couple of months. We've been going back and forth on the details, but now it's all confirmed and we're doing it. It's a dream tour."
"I think it would be a dream tour for anybody," Miles Doughty (vocals) adds with a big grin. "Stephen Marley and Snoop Dogg—you can't go wrong with that."
Slightly Stoopid are veterans in the game combining classic funk, reggae and even a little SoCal punk for a sound that's infectious and engaging. They've been fan favorites for years, eschewing the major label machine in favor of constant touring and independent recording. For them, to land this spot is huge. Rymo continues, "We've been doing this a long time, and we always try to bring a little something different for every tour—whether it be a couple different songs or some crazy stage stuff. We're going to do it, and it's going to be good. There's a large chance we'll collaborate too."
