Autumn is here! Back to School and all that! It’s time for football, brisk weather, and the 57th season of Survivor. With fall comes great music. Rocktober is right around the corner. Followed by New-wave-vember, and Dec… Alright, those are a bit of a stretch. Let’s take a look at the biggest releases this fall to look forward to.

    Kid Cudi - Indicud

Kid Cudi is the ultimate 21st century artist. He doesn't stick to one style or script. Instead, he rewrites the rules for the entire game every time he goes into the studio. After the phenomenal WZRD, it's beyond thrilling to see what Indicud has in store for the world. Already, "Just What Iam" sees our favorite rapper ripping up another spacey soundscape with his inimitable flow and poetic perspective. The rest of the record is bound to truly be some next level shit, because that's just what Cudi is always giving. [Fall]

    Soundgarden - King Animal

Soundgarden is one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time, and this band hasn’t released an album of original material since 1996’s Down on the Upside. Rock fans everywhere (and basically anyone who’s into good music) are salivating for this release in early November. This is a band that never released a lackluster album, so no pressure, guys! [November 13, 2012]

Stone Sour - House of Gold & Bones Part 1

I’ve heard that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Therefore, people who live in houses made of Gold and Bones (or any houses for that matter) should listen to Stone Sour! How would you like to have a house made of Gold and Bones? I bet it would be the flashiest and creepiest house on the block. All these ramblings aside, expect big things from a band that knows how to intertwine melody and intensity with the best of them. This is already a contender for album of the year as far as we're concerned as it's the first-half of the group's double-disc concept epic. [October 22, 2012]

    Taylor Swift - Red

Taylor Swift’s album Red will have her label in the black, I’m sure. (Don’t you just love bad puns? As you can tell, I certainly do.) The unbelievably catchy first single is the smash hit, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Interesting tidbit- I heard the working title for this song was “I’m Rubber and You’re Glue, Whatever I Say Bounces Off of Me and Sticks to You,” but that was too long and childish of a title. This will be one of the biggest albums of the year, without a doubt. [October 22, 2012]

The Amity Affliction - Chasing Ghosts

The Amity Affliction remain one of the most exciting bands to infiltrate heavy music in over a decade. They fuse soaring, searing melodies to absolutely crushing grooves. We have a feeling we're going to be Chasing Ghosts forever as soon as this one drops. [October 2, 2012]

Three Days Grace - Transit of Venus

Three Days Grace up the ante again by skyrocketing their undeniable hard rock sound into outer space. Expect to float away on some massively giant hooks! [October 2, 2012]

One Direction - Take Me Home

This boy toy group’s career only has “one direction”- straight up! I’m sure everyone associated with this hotter-than-a-summer-day-in-San Bernardino boy band has been scrambling to capitalize on their monumental success. One thing’s for sure- this album will be One Direction’s Nebraska record. Just kidding- I’m sure it will be more pop tunes to make the young ladies swoon. [November 13, 2012]

    Mumford & Sons - Babel

Did you know Timbaland produced this record? No? That’s because it’s completely untrue. That would be something, though, wouldn’t it? Mumford and Sons have blossomed into one of the biggest bands today, much in the same fashion of their sweeping, folksy songs: starting out softly, and then building and building into an epic and monumental crescendo. Here, expect Mumford and his adorable children bandmates (who don’t look much younger than him, to be honest) to deliver another beautiful helping of folk rock songs. [September 25, 2012]

    ***Special Under the Radar Alert**

    Killbot - Sound Surgery (EP)

Killbot is the brainchild of EDM artists J Devil (aka Jonathan Davis from Korn), Sluggo, and Tyler Blue, and will be coming out on Dim Mak Records October 9th. Buzz on this EP has been tantalizing, and look to hear more from this trio of super villains this fall. [October 22, 2012]

    Flyleaf - New Horizons

This is only the third album from Belton, Texas’ best and brightest rockers, believe it or not. The lead single and title track, “New Horizons,” has a bit of a Third Eye Blind feel to go along with some soaring melodies. Slated for a late October release, some great music is just over the horizon… [Fall]

All That Remains - A War You Cannot Win

All That Remains always deliver the goods tenfold. With impressive, technical thrashing, downright punishing grooves, and Phil Labonte's unforgettable hooks, A War Cannot Win continues the good fight for heavy metal dominance and brings the Massachusetts outfit another artistic victory. It's the band's best and most brilliant thus far, and we're armed and ready to join the battle alongside them. [November 6, 2012]

    The Sword - Apocryphon

Cryptic texts are right up The Sword's metallic alley. There's nothing like sludgy yet melodic metal to make you think. The Sword are the premier 21st century thinking man's heavy metal band, and there's undoubtedly a ton to learn and uncover hidden between the lines. Would you expect anything less though? You shouldn't...be ready to experience another classic. Check out "Veil of Isis" over at Rolling Stone. [October 22, 2012]

    Papa Roach - The Connection

Once again, Papa Roach come out of the gates with all guns blazing. You can hear it on the blistering bounce of first single "Still Swingin'," and it only gets better as the album progresses. As far as rock and roll goes, this is as fierce and furious as it gets. Make a Connection with Papa Roach. You won't regret it. [October 2, 2012]

Kanye West - G.O.O.D. Music Compilation

Nothing rings in the Fall Season like an album called “Cruel Summer”! Hip Hop’s most talked about mad scientist returns with a group of tracks from heavyweights Kid Cudi, Ghostface Killah, Pusha T, Common, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, 2 Chainz, John Legend, and other G.O.O.D. artists. [Out Now]

    The Killers - Battle Born

The Killers return! Although, I recently realized that every Killers track since the first album has been a Meat Loaf cover. It’s a conspiracy, man! After a lengthy hiatus, it will be interesting to see the response to one of Modern Rock’s biggest artists of the last ten years. Personally, we can’t wait. [Out Now]

    Green Day - ¡Uno!

Green Day has a very interesting and unorthodox album release plan- they will be releasing three - count ‘em, three - albums between September and January. The albums will be called, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! [September 25, 2012]

    Muse - The 2nd Law

These English virtuosos are as beloved a band as we’ve seen in a long time. A mix between Bends-era Radiohead and Queen, Muse has consistently rendered technically proficient albums and burning tracks with ease. By incorporating Electronic music on this release, we can expect the unexpected on The 2nd Law. [October 2, 2012]

Now you’re all set for a good old fashioned Rocktoberfest! Blast away on your mp3 player, and watch for falling leaves.
