The Pretty Reckless are about to set fire to rock 'n' roll.
The genre's been begging for an honest-to-goodness firestarter like Taylor Momsen for years now. With sexy, slithering soul, she carries the first two burning effigies from the band's forthcoming second full-length Going to Hell.
After foreboding moaning through a cricket's hum, "Follow Me Down" snaps into a writhing anthem punctuated by dynamic guitars and the singer's inimitable croon. After amping up the energy, it spirals out into a seductively silky bridge that's as haunting as it is hypnotic. There's no band like The Pretty Reckless in rock 'n' roll that taps into true danger. It's the spirit that made our favorites timeless in the first place.
It's no use comparing The Pretty Reckless to anyone though. This is distinctly its own beast. Momsen evinces that on the subtlely incendiary "Burn". A lilting acoustic guitar resounds as her voice bleeds raw power during the poetic refrain, "You want me to burn".
Rock music is about to go up in flames as The Pretty Reckless rise to the top this year with Going to Hell. It's easily one of our most anticipated records of 2013.
