This is something we've wondered for quite some time.

What if Star Wars were re-cast with some of the biggest names in modern hard rock and heavy metal? Maybe it's because most metal shows resemble the bar scene on Tattooine in Star Wars: Episode IV, but that's another story. Seriously, we know gentlemen such as Corey Taylor [Slipknot & Stone Sour] and Chino Moreno [Deftones, Palms, & Crosses] are Star Wars fanatics, but what character would they fit the most?

We decided to tackle re-casting the franchise with five leading heavy metal and hard rock dudes.

This is totally just our interpretation of the characters and the respective musician's connection. There's no real criteria for this. Sometimes, they just look alike. Other times, the reason is complete conjecture. Nevertheless, we think this is an important subject that should be up for debate. So, in the comments section below, let us know what you think and who else you might cast as other Star Wars characters we have not mentioned.

May the force be with you…

Corey Taylor [Slipknot & Stone Sour] as Han Solo

Okay, so in the above pictures, they're basically wearing the same thing. That's our first reason here. Secondly, Taylor possesses a sharp, slick wit a la Han Solo. He's—presumably—great with a blaster, and if he can sing on stage in Slipknot with all hell breaking loose around him, we're pretty sure he could fly the Millenium Falcon no problem. We know he would make a phenomenal Han Solo.

[Speaking of Han Solo watch our interview with Harrison Ford below!]

Zakk Wylde [Black Label Society] as Chewbacca

This one is obvious. We feel it needs no explanation. Zakk would feel right at home as Chewbacca…

Maynard James Keenan [Tool, A Perfect Circle, & Puscifer] as Yoda

Spouting wisdom shrouded in mystery in the middle of Tool shows and encouraging audiences to embrace the moment and create something positive with every breath, Maynard is the perfect candidate to play master Yoda. Like Yoda, he's also got some serious fighting skills—in addition to all of that brilliance. Fans everywhere pay reverence as if we were a Jedi master already, so this makes total sense. They don't look alike, but modern CGI is quite advanced…

Chino Moreno [Deftones, Palms, & Crosses] as Anakin Skywalker

Moreno's love for Star Wars runs deep. Team Sleep had a song called "Natalie Portman", and Anakin ends up with Miss Portman in the prequels. There are numerous parallels. Plus, he turns into Darth Vader—who rules. No more explanation is necessary for this one.

See More With Chino Moreno Below!

Ray Luzier [Korn] as Luke Skywalker

Check out the picture. Ray does bare a slight resemblance to Luke Skywalker. More importantly, he's one of the best drummers out there, so you could say the force is strong in him. When he joined Korn in 2008, he brought the force of ten lightsabers with him behind the kit.
