Camila Cabello has left Fifth Harmony. The group made the announcement via a variety of their social media accounts explaining, "After four and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well."
The four remaining members, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui, plan on continuing the group as a foursome. Just 10 days ago, the band had announce their plans to make a second album at the 2016 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball. Jane Hansen told radio personality Elvis Duran, "2017, it's going to be popping. The third album is definitely going to be so lit. We're really excited."
There has been no announcement at this time as to why Cabello left the band, but she has been pursuing a solo career on the side, which has included two successful collaborations. The first, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" with Shawn Mendes, reached the top 20 of the Billboard charts, and the second, Machine Gun Kelly's "Bad Things" featuring Cabello, has reached the top 10.
Apparently, tensions between Cabello and the rest of the group had been brewing for some time. A source tells Billboard, "December 18, the day the split was announced, marked the conclusion of Cabello's contractual obligations to the group."
The band has made no announcement about a possible name change.
