Emerging from the midwest indie circuit, the five members of the Graduate have gone from virtual unknowns to cover boys for CMJ magazine. And with their debut album, Anhedonia, hitting stores this week (April 10th), they're poised for even greater success.

Lead singer Corey Warning fielded our five questions to shed some light on where he and his bandmates get their inspiration.

    1. Name a musician who has influenced your sound, but that people may not expect.

    Cee-Lo.

    2. Who or what inspires you to make music?

Everything from other bands, movies, friends/family, girlfriends, life in general.

    3. Was there a driving concept behind your new album?

Anhedonia is a clinical term for a person who can't feel pleasure from normal things that would make a person happy. While we were writing the album, I was having a really hard time getting inspired and often felt like this.

    4. What's the most exciting part of the actual music-making process for you?

Once a song is finished structurally and we get to add all the "extra" stuff.

    5. If you could pick a dream band to open for, past or present, who would it be?

    Elliott Smith.

The Graduate's debut full-length album, Anhedonia, is available now in the ARTISTdirect Store.
