It appears as if Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold is developing a full length studio album. Opening for Joanna Newsom earlier this year, Pecknold shared a handful of new songs, which will most likely be amongst those included in a formal release - according to an Instagram post from the singer-songwriter.
"FF record kind of crazy/vast so working on ‘putting babies to sleep/living my truth' palliative solo album on off days," he wrote. Along with his post was a short clip of hushed music, apparently off the forthcoming solo project. Pecknold also referenced the new Fleet Foxes album he's been working on for the last few months, which may be titled Crack Up. In addition to "crazy/vast", he previously described it as "a different vibe" from "2008-2011 FF."
Speaking earlier this year Pecknold described the tone and ambitions of the new Fleet Foxes album: ""I don't want to change genres necessarily – I feel like there was a period from 2012-2016 where it would have been very culturally exhausting to release a "folk" sounding album, considering the climate of Mumford and Sons and the Lumineers etc being so incredibly popular. What were we to do?" He added; "I've worked on a lot of noise music that I don't really believe in over the last couple of years and I don't want to be releasing stuff that's just commentary on the music business."
No stranger to hard work Pecknold has been busy in recent months - aside from touring with Joanna Newsom he also covered Harry Nilsson, collaborated with Matt Kivel and shared a new track called "Swimming".
