Fleetwood Mac & The Eagles To Headline Classic East & West Festivals

Classic rock icons Fleetwood Mac will be joined by The Eagles to headline Classic East & West Festivals — the two day festivals happening in Los Angeles and New York City this summer. The festivals also boast a wealth of big names from a classic era of rock 'n' roll, with Journey, Earth Wind & Fire, Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers all confirmed to appear.
Just last summer, AEG brought Paul McCartney, Roger Water and the Rolling Stones together for the Desert Trip Festival. So it seems like the blueprint of bringing together classic artists has been set, now to be capitalized on by Azoff MSG Entertainment and Live Nation, who are behind this pair of coastal festivals.
Classic West will take place July 15th and July 16th at Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium, and will be followed by the Classic East segment of the festival which will take place on July 29th and July 30th at Citi Field in New York City.
Of particular note to fans of all confirmed bands it's perhaps The Eagles participation that has most pulses racing, since Don Henley had previously announced the band's breakup following Glenn Frey's death in January of 2016. After the band's tribute to his former bandmate at the 2016 Grammy's, Henley told the BBC “That was the final farewell. I don't think you'll see us performing again. I think that was probably it. I think it was an appropriate farewell.”
As for fellow headliners Fleetwood Mac, they made their last headlining performance in November 2015. Since then, Stevie Nicks released and toured a solo project, 24K Gold, while her bandmates Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie have been recording a new album of duets, which is slated for release at some time in May.
In a world where it can feel like there are too many music festivals to attend, this classic line-up proves that there's always a new angle and a new way to experience the classics. Tickets aren't expected to last for long.
