A moment of silence, please, for founding Kinks bassist, Pete Quaife, who also sang vocals for the group from 1963-1969, when they were taking off. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Quaife died at the age of 66, after struggling mightily with kidney problems for 10 years. Quaife appeared on early hits, including "You Really Got Me," "All Day and All of the Night," and "Dedicated Follower of Fashion." He split town –well, left the band- after duking it out with childhood friends/bandmates Ray and Dave Davies. Quaife –which is an unfortunate last name if it sounds the way it is spelled- was replaced by bassist John Dalton at the time.
