In order for a remake of the iconic, original Friday The 13th to work, everything hinges on the casting. Fans of the series and general horror buffs clamor for the chance to see young, good-looking and healthy teens who are getting it on with one another at summer camp get hacked to bits without ever having to care about them. Looks like the powers-that-be behind the upcoming remake of the '80s classic slasher series understand this concept all too well. They've casted pretty brunette Danielle Panabaker in the lead female role. Panabaker was recently seen in last summer's serial killer drama Mr. Brooks and this summer, she'll be headed out to Camp Crystal Lake to do mental and physical battle with everyone's favorite hockey mask-wearing, machete-wielding monster, Jason Vorhees.
Also on board is a crew of relative unknowns, among them Travis Van Winkle, Aaron Yoo and Jonathan Sadowski. We're not the betting type, but we're fairly certain these three will end up without limbs and pints of blood. Most likely, Panabaker will be the last one standing, even if a little bloody and worse for wear!
Marcus Nispel, who directed 2003's Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and looks to be corronated as the new king of horror remakes, will helm the film.
No word yet if Kane Hodder will be reprising his role as Jason.
