Former Diddy protégé G. Dep has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for a murder conviction.
G. Dep, born Trevell Coleman, turned himself in to the authorities in 2010 and confessed to shooting 17-year-old John Henkel during a botched robbery in New York in 1993. At the time, he did so to clear his conscience.
Before you pat him on the back for doing so, realize that he later pleaded not guilty, claiming he had been under the influence of drugs at the time of his admission and that cops had mistakenly tied him to the crime.
G. Dep's lawyer, Anthony Ricco, was pleased that his client for taking responsibility for his actions, telling The New York Post that "my hope is that Trevell never wavers from his decision. 15 years is a long time. 15 years in the penitentiary for putting yourself there is an even longer time."
What do you think of G. Dep turning himself in and then recanting his confession?
