George Strait played the final concert of his multi-year The Cowboy Rides Away Tour on Saturday, June 7 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The singer, who is retiring from active, large-scale touring but not from making music or from playing live shows, has set the record with his final tour show ever.
What is the record? Oh, just the largest indoor concert attendance in North America, with 104,793 people at the gig.
To put it in perspective, Strait broke The Rolling Stones' long-held record. Their 1981 show at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans drew 87,500 fans. So, yeah, Strait blows that record out of the water with over 17,000 more fans in attendance.
It's hard to say goodbye, but Texas fans came out to do so to the King of Country.
Have you ever seen George Strait life? If so, how was he?
