NYC singer, songwriter, poet, actor and visual artist Rachael Sage, who also owns and operates her very own MPress Records, is gearing up for the November 4 release of her latest studio album Blue Roses. But you don't need to wait a whole two months and some change to get to know the album more intimately! This four-minute video offers an insider's insight into the artist and her album.
Sage, who has been thriving as an indie artist who has run her own label since her 1996 debut, is in possession of a voice that imparts soulful melancholy over driving piano, augmented by string-soaked arrangements.
Her music is also featured in the current season of Lifetime TV's hit reality series Dance Moms. Eight of her songs have served as accompaniment to the Abby Lee Dance Company's award-winning choreography. Two songs from Blue Roses will be featured this season, as well. As a former student of The School of American Ballet, Sage said, "It's been pretty thrilling to watch young dancers like Maddie Ziegler and Chloe Lukasiak perform week after week to my music. They're incredible young artists, and have brought me back to dance in such a unique and unexpected way!"
Like we said, Blue Roses doesn't arrive until November, but you can get to know this unique artist and her new album a bit more intimately in this inviting EPK. In it, Sage discusses how she enjoyed the process of the new album, the significance of the title, working with Judy Collins and her love of touring.
If you are a fan of Ani DiFranco, Jewel or Tori Amos, but haven't yet had the pleasure of making Rachael Sage's acquaintance, well, allow us to make the intro. Have at it! She's pretty amazing.
What was your favorite thing about this Rachael Sage video? Are you exited about Blue Roses?
