Ghost "Secular Haze" Song Review — 5 out of 5 stars

Ghost's new track "Secular Haze" casts the kind of spell that all timeless rock 'n' roll should.
Teetering between sinisterly inviting organ pipes and an entrancing riff, the song immediately slips into a metallic séance of the highest order. Papa Emeritus evokes darkness with devilish charm as the drums and bass building into a hypnotic refrain. "Hide us in shadows," he urges in his elegant croon before a satanic whisper of "A secular haze" pierces the six-string madness. After another hovering bridge, a tasteful and tight guitar solo reverberates through the smoke, and Ghost's impressive instrumentation takes hold.
Ghost have the power to reinvigorate rock music for a few reasons. These ghouls can play their hooded heads off. There's an element of mystery and mystique that's all too often absent in our "reveal your entire life within 140 characters world". Plus, they know how to write riffs that are so catchy they're evil.
Fall into this "Haze" and you'll never be the same. Be ready for Ghost to haunt rock forever.
