    Gil Scott-Heron, known as the "Godfather of Rap" and for his militant song "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," died Friday afternoon in a New York hospital. Scott-Heron was 62.

    The cause of death was not immediately released, but he was known to be HIV positive and had struggled with addictions to drugs throughout his life.

    R.I.P., Gil Scott-Heron.
