Last month, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett's animated superstar band Gorillaz announced that they will be holding the inaugural Demon Dayz festival on June 10th at Dreamland theme park in Margate, United Kingdom. Rumors have been flurrying about the event hitting other stages, and now the Gorillaz have seemingly confirmed that another Demon Dayz festival will be taking place in Chicago, Illinois, according to a recent interview Albarn conducted with Stereogum.
No dates for the Chicago event have been announced at this time, and the event is still yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, very little is still known about the Margate edition, but it has been suggested that Noel Gallagher and Graham Coxon will both make appearances at it.
Albarn has also suggested that the upcoming Gorillaz album will be heavily toured in the same Stereogum interview, "as he notes, these records are not cheap to make, given the expansive and convoluted nature of the process."
Gorillaz forthcoming album, Demon Dayz is set to be released April 28th. In the meantime, the band has launched an immersive "mixed reality app" for Apple and Android devices. It will give fans "a glimpse inside the weird and wonderful universe" of the animated band, and at some point, the app will also host the "Humanz House Party," which will allow fans to hear the band's new album in full for the first time. The "Humanz House Party" is billed as "the largest ever geo specific listening experience bringing people together across 500 locations, from Tokyo to Santiago". No date has been announced for the event at this time, but we will be keeping our ears to the ground for more information.
